You may have time left to make a nice and beautiful walk along the "Pavilla" (30 minutes), explore our village, have a drink (with free tapas) on one of the bars' terraces or on our own roof terrace. During the weekend the 16th century olive press museum in Nigüelas is open, which we highly recommend visiting.
- Today we have a self guided roundtrip walk that starts from Casa de Lino´s doorstep. This walk will take you through the mountains behind Nigüelas, with beautiful panoramic views over the mountains. The last part of the walk follows the GR-7 path via Acequias back to Nigüelas. In total 11 km/3 hours/675 meter difference in height. If you want, you can make another walk after this, through the almond and olive groves of Nigüelas (1,5 hours) and/or drive to Murchas to make a walk to the Moorish castle ruin (1:45 hour).
- Today you will walk a part of the GR7-route (self guided) through the almond, orange and lemon groves of the fertile green Lecrín Valley. In the morning we will bring you to Albuñuelas and you walk back to Nigüelas along the white villages of Salares, Restábal, Melegis en Murchas. This route has recently been signposted with GR-7 sign posts. (18 km/5 uur). On the way you can have good lunch in Melegis on a nice terrace (closed on Wednesday). See links for a description of the GR7-route and the villagas of the Lecrín Valley.
- Today you drive to the beautiful area of Monachil, near Granada. The self guided walk starts with a small path along the mountain with lovely views, then descends to the valley and continues through a deep gorge with a river and cross overs with suspension bridges. Various land scapes, many shaded picknick spots and several spots to paddle/swim. (8km/3,5 hours/300 meter difference in height). After the walk you can drive further into the Sierra Nevada National Park or, for example, visit Granada city.
- Today you leave early in the morning and drive to Granada to visit the Alhambra. Here you will visit the gardens of the Generalife and the Alhambra, including the palaces. (when there are only afternoon tickets available, the day program will be turned around). Afterwards you can walk to the city centre for lunch. After lunch you can do a city walk, see the sights and/or visit some tapas bars. (Because we book the Alhambra for you as early as possible, the visit to the Alhambra is a fixed date in the program. If you do not wish to visit the Alhambra, please let us know when you book with us, the tickets will be deducted from the package price.)
- Today you drive to Pampaneira in the Alpujarras, where you will make a self guided roundwalk in the valley and along the mountain hills of the Río Poqueira via Bubión and Capileira. Because you have a rental car you can also see more of the surrounding areas, walk in different areas or have a lazy day at the beach. Sometimes it´s also nessecary to change the program because of wheather conditions.
Other:
- The level of the walks: the self guided walks vary from light to medium/heavy and are feasible for people with a good condition and some walking experience. The walks go through hilly to mountainous terrain over usually good accessible paths, sometimes with loose lying stones.
- Walking time: these are average duration times, resting time and breaks are not included.
- Some walks are not suitable for people with a lot of fear for heights.
- Seasons: you can walk all year round. In the summer (July/August) it can be very hot in the afternoon (40 °C), it is better to make an early start at 8 AM when it is still 20 °C, and walk until 2 PM. In spring and Autumn it is usually good wheather for walking. During the winter it is also good for walking, although it is a little colder and occasionally it rains. Walking in the wintersun is very nice, temperatures range from 0 to 15 °C in the shadow.
- Because of early reservation of the Alhambra tickets, the visit to the Alhambra is fixed in the program. If you do not wish to visit the Alhambra please let us know when you book with us. The entrance price will be deducted from your package price.
- We strongly advise you to bring the following: *fleece/sweater and windblocker jacket (also in the summer!), in the mountains the wheather can turn around very suddenly; *sturdy good walking shoes/boots with a good profile sole; *(seemless) walking socks; *day travel rucksack; *a change of clothes during your walk; *sufficient food and water during your walk ( not always obtainable during the walk); *hat, sunglasses and sunscreen (Nigüelas is 1000 meter high, the sun is very strong and comparable with a skiing holiday).
- The walks, transfers and use of material and/or other activities are on your own risk.
